Launched by the discovery of two architecturally identical Houston homes with extraordinarily different real estate values, the exhibit explores how pivotal policy changes, architectural trends, and social movements have shaped our city’s communities.
From the impact of redlining and discriminatory housing practices to the rise of gentrification, the challenge was to develop a visual system that makes Houston’s complex history accessible. The design draws from the historic redlining map of Houston and the language found in legal documents.
