During my time as junior graphic designer at Field of Study, I was tasked with conceptualizing and designing a custom invitation suite for Diverse Works and James Surls birthday celebration.
James Surls is an internationally recognized artist, widely known for his monumental sculptures, drawings, and prints. He utilizes symbolism, pattern, and rhythm to illustrate his reverence for the natural and spiritual worlds. The typographic selection and treatment pays homage to nature and the often simple, but striking forms Surls explores in his work.
